The Kentucky Personal Finance Challenge quiz bowl competition took place at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis-Louisville Branch on May 5, 2010 with 4 teams participating.  These were the top 4 teams in  the online Personal Finance Challenge. Quiz Bowl Final standings were:

1st Place -- North Hardin High School, Patty Lirot, teacher/coach
2nd Place -- Ballard High School (Jeff. Co.), Kim Barber, teacher/coach
3rd Place -- Eastern High School (Jeff Co.), Bruce Allen, teacher/coach
4th Place -- Eastern High School (Jeff Co.), Bruce Allen, teacher/coach

The winning team of students, Josh Beaber, Dhaval Patel, Dylan Sullivan and Blake Meyers, from North Hardin High School, will compete in the National Personal Finance Challenge on May 20 in Kansas City, MO. Good Luck Guys!

Take the Personal Finance Challenge Online Quiz  (will be available April 12)           

Add competitive excitement to your classroom! The KCEE Personal Finance Challenge is an opportunity for grades 9-12 high school students to demonstrate their knowledge of personal finance by competing against other students across the state in multiple-choice and quiz bowl challenges.   

Preliminary/Qualifying Round - Teachers will register their classes to participate in this online qualifying round.  In this qualifying online round, individual students will complete a quick 30-minute, 40 question quiz that covers topics in income, money management, spending and credit, and saving and investing.

Each classes' top 4 individual student scores will be added together to make up the class top scoring team. (Note: a teacher could have more than one class.) 

The four highest-scoring teams in the state will compete in the State Personal Finance Challenge on May 5.  (Teachers have the discretion of substituting team members to advance if necessary.)

State Challenge
— The top four highest-scoring teams in the state will advance to the state challenge hosted by the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis-Louisville Branch.  The state challenge will be a series of quiz bowl, buzzer-round competitions to determine the state winner.
Student participants receive certificates of recognition and the first place team wins a school trophy and advance to the National Challenge.

National Challenge - The state winning team will advance to the National Personal Finance Challenge held in Kansas City, MO on May 20. Travel and hotel expenses will be paid for by Wachovia Wells Fargo Foundation.

Teacher Webinars | March 30 and April 7
Learn about the competition, how to register teams for the online round, and Q&A. (not required to participate)

Team Registration Deadline | April 15
To participate, teachers must register online.

Preliminary/Qualifying Round | April 12-23
Students will compete individually in the online qualifying round. Each classes' top 4 scores will be added together to make the class top scoring team.  Then, the four highest-scoring teams across the state will compete in the State Personal Finance Challenge on May 5. 

State Personal Finance Challenge | May 5
The four top-scoring teams from the preliminary online round will compete in the state championship, which will be a quiz-bowl round hosted by the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis-Louisville Branch in Louisville.

National Personal Finance Competition | May 20 | Kansas City, Mo.
The state champion will be invited to participate in the first National Personal Finance Competition in Kansas City, MO against the winning teams from other participating states. Hotel and transportation are paid for by Wachovia Wells Fargo Foundation.
